Materials:
- White piece of cardboard {you could use construction paper}
- Blue piece of construction paper
- Red glitter
- Glue
- Small brush
Directions:
- Show your child a pictue of the American Flag. Cut out a blue square, and ask your child where the square goes on the white construction paper.
- Have you child glue the blue square onto the white cardboard.
- With the small brush, paint horizontal strips with the glue for the glitter.
- Have your child sprinkle glitter over the glue, then with the glue have your child make white starts on the blue rectangle with their finger. Let dry, pick up to remove all excess glitter, your beautiful flag is finished!
- Here are some fun facts to share with your child about the American Flag: White signifies purity & innocence, Red’s meaning is hardiness & valor, and Blue signifies vigilance, perseverance & justice. The 13 strips represents the original 13 states and the 50 stars represent our current 50 states. We celebrate our flag on Memorial Day to give thanks to all who have served and sacrificed for our country! God Bless the USA!

*Stallone Tested and Approved: Stallone loved making his American Flag today, he especially loved using the glitter! He was very good at placing the "blue square" where it belonged after seeing it on example flag I had shown him. His finished piece is proudly hanging up on our fridge for the days to come..4th of July that is! The Read Aloud was a lot of fun too, we practiced holding our right hand over our heart while reciting the pledge, these were fun and important lessons learned today honoring our great nation!
