Activity: Scissor Practice

Daily Opener:
- Prayer {Say a prayer with your child}
- Calendar {Click

- ABC / 123 Song {Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}.
Description: Your child will practice their scissor skills by cutting out
various shapes.
Materials:

Scrap pieces of colorful paper
·
Scissors
·
Pen
·
White piece of paper
·
Tape or glue
Directions:
- Using the pen, draw a few different simple shapes on
different pieces of paper.
- Example: Square / Circle / Rectangle / Triangle
- Using the pen, draw a few zig-zag lines on a piece of
paper.
- Use a piece of tape, tape the ends of the six clothes
pins.
- Place the pieces of paper on the table.
- Have your child practice their scissor skills, but
cutting out the various shapes and lines.
- Once they have cut out the shapes, have your child
tape or glue the shapes on a white piece of paper.
- At the bottom of the paper, write your child’s name,
the date, and the words “scissor practice.”
- When you are finished, praise your child for a job well done. Next, hang the finished piece on the wall for display!
Learning Opportunity :
- Your child will
practice their scissor skills by cutting out various shapes.
- Your child will improve their fine motor skills.
- Your child will gain confidence while completing the activity.

*Stallone Tested and Approved:
Stallone loved using his scissors
today. This activity helped him learn
how to hold his scissors for a proper cut.
He enjoyed cutting out the circle and the zig-zag lines. We will definitely practice this lesson on a
weekly basis to continue to improve his scissor skills!
