Activity: What's All the Fizz About?

Opener:

3. ABC / 123 Song
{Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}.
Description: Your child
will discover different colors while creating different patterns of fizziness.
Materials:
- 13 by 9 Dish or Smaller
- Food Coloring {Assortment of colors}
- Vinegar
- Baking Soda
- Medicine Dropper
Directions:
1. Cover the entire inside of the dish with
baking soda.
2. For each color you have fill a cup up with a
little vinegar and a few drops of food coloring, one cup per color.
3. Let the exploring begin! Using their medicine
dropper, have child suction one color at a time and then squezzing liquid out
onto the baking soda. Your child will love making patterns with the different
coloring while hearing and seeing the colors fizz!
4. Discuss
with your child the following questions:
- What do you hear and see?
- What causes this to happen?
- Have other colors been created by combining them?
5. Review today's science activity with child, ask questions to reassure comprehension. Take part in the activity again in the later days to come. :)

Your child will take part in a science activity
using liquid and baking soda.

Your child will discover colors, patterns, and
reactions to the two chemicals being combined.

Your child will have completed a science
experience in which they will have gained confidence while exploring.

Stallone Tested & Approved: What a FUN, FUN, and FUN activity! You must try this! Thank you Pinterest for the great idea! Stallone would of sat there all day making "fizz" if he could! We will be doing this lots more times. It was educational asking him questions about the reaction of the vinegar and the baking soda and don't forget all the great colors involved. We mixed colors to make new colors like: orange, purple, and brown lol! Try this out, ;et us know what you think?
