for Cat

Opener:
1.
Prayer {Say a prayer with your child}

3. ABC / 123 Song
{Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}.
Description: Your child
will learn the letter C by completing a creative activity.
Materials:
- Two Paper Plates
- Paint {Child’s choice of color}
- Paint Brush
- Black Marker
- Scissors
- Tape/Glue
Directions:
1. Cut out a large circle from the center of one
paper plate and a medium circle from the center of the second plate {see images
below}.
2. Cut out a curled tail and two small triangles
from the remaining plate scraps {see images below}.
3. With the paint, have your child paint all the
cut out pieces {paint the back side of the plate’s “ridged” pieces}, let sit to
dry.
4. Discuss
with your child the word Cat and it starts with the letter C.
5. Making the Cat: {see images below}
- Have your child tape or glue the medium circle onto the top right side of the large circle.
- Tape or glue the two triangles to the top of the medium circle.
- Tape or glue the tail to the left side of large circle.
- Draw cat eyes, nose, whiskers, and mouth on the center of the medium circle.
- Your cat is done, turn side ways, as if the cat is walking up the tree to see the letter C!
6. When your cat is finished ask your child a few
questions:
- What sound does the C make?
- What is the name of this animal?
- What color do you see?
- Can you name a few other words that start with the letter C?
7. When finished, display your child’s C on the
wall for the whole family to see and enjoy!
Learning Opportunity:
1.
Your child will practice matching the sound to
the letter.
2.
Your child will learn letter recognition while
completing this activity.
3.
Your child will learn new words that start with
the letter C.

Stallone Tested and Approved: C is for Cat! Stallone has been into "phonics" lately, so any activity where we are practicing letters in always a "plus" in his book! What a fun activity today to take part in. I got the idea for the cat on the wonderful Pinterest and did a little tweaking and "waa laa" a perfect letter C activity!
