{Week 3: Art}

Activity: Shamrock Hands

Daily Opener:  
  1. Prayer {Say a prayer with your child}
  2. Calendar {Click on the link to learn how to use the calendar}.
  3. ABC / 123 Song {Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}. 
Description:  Your child will learn how to make a shamrock with his/her hands.

Materials:
·         Green paint
·         White construction paper
·         Paper plate
·         Paint brush
·         Pen

Directions:
  1. Write the word “Shamrock” on the white construction paper.
  2. Introduce St. Patrick’s Day to your child and discuss the importance of a shamrock. 
  3. Place the paper plates on the table.  Add the green paint.
  4. Draw a stem for the base of the shamrock
  5. Have your child place his/her hand in the green paint.
  6. Press hand {facing inward} above the stem, to create a shamrock leaf.
  7. Repeat this three times until you have four shamrock leaves.
  8. When you are finished, have your child place his finished art piece on the wall! 
Learning Opportunity
  1. Your child will learn how to identify, spell, and pronounce the word Shamrock.
  2. Your child will learn how to make a shamrock & practice their painting skills.
  3. Your child will gain confidence by learning new words and creating a beautiful piece of art.

Write "Shamrock,"  your child's name and age!

*Stallone Tested and Approved:  Fabulous activity! Stallone is not a boy who likes to get dirty, but he loves to have his hands painted! He would say, "Momma, that tickles!" I think he got the hang of it after we made the first leaf. His artwork now hangs on his "Wall of Art!"
