· Green construction paper
· Index Cards
· Tape/Glue and Pen/Sharpe
Directions:
1. Describe “St. Patrick’s Day” to your child. For a brief synopsis:
A. St. Patrick's is the patron Saint of Ireland and the Irish.
B. Shamrock is a three-leafed clover, it's Ireland's National Flower.
C. The Shamrock was used to help explain the Blessed Trinity.
D. St. Patrick's Legend was that he charmed all the snakes of Ireland to the seashore water, so they would never return again.
2. Trace and cut out an 8 by 10 three leaf clover out of green construction paper. Describe the importance of the clover, it is Ireland’s National Flower.
3. Write six words that describe “St. Patrick’s Day” on your index cards: Green, Gold, Irish, March, Rainbow, and Clover.
4. Explain the importance of each word to your child.
5. Using the shaving cream, dispurse a medium-size amount on a clean surface. Squeeze 1-2 small drops of food coloring onto shaving cream. Mix together. Spread cream evenly, creating a flat surface.
6. Have child practice writing each of the six words, one at a time, in the shaving cream. For younger children, parents hold child’s index finger helping them spell each word. If you mess up, wipe away and create a new surface.
7. After writing each word, use the word in a sentence.
8. Once the shaving cream activity is finished, write “St. Patrick’s Day” in the center of your clover. Tape all index cards around the clover, while reviewing each word.
9.When you are finished, hang your child’s work up on the wall.

*Stallone Tested and Approved: Everything was green today..including Mommy's fingers after mixing shaving cream and food coloring! LOL! Stallone loved writing in the shaving cream, and loved pronouncing the new "St. Patrick's Day" words. I know we will have to review this lesson throughout the week and maybe beyond, for we learned "big words" today. All in all, I look forward using shaving cream in the future for other Creative Mind activities!
