Activity:  Valentine's Day Shield  {Lesson by Annie}

Description:  Your child will create a personal Valentine's Day "Shield" that will instill their personal qualities, in which they will gain self esteem for the years to come.

Materials:
Construction Paper
Markers/Crayons
Scissors
Sharpe/Pen

Directions:
1. Choose a Valentine's Day color piece of paper from your pad of construction paper.
2. Fold paper in half vertically, matching corners together.
3. Draw a half of a heart, folded side as the inside of the heart {Heart should be big enough to take up the entire folded half}.
4. Open "new" heart, draw a line down the center of the heart, and a horizontal line across the center of the heart {you should have four squares}.
5. On top left hand at the top, write your child's name. On the top right hand corner, write "My Skills" at the top and underline. On bottom left hand corner, write "When I Grow Up.." at the top and underline it. On the bottom right hand corner, write "What I am Famous For.." and underline that.
6. Talk over the questions being asked with your child, and come up with some answer(s) to write down. For younger Tots, you can help them come up with answers and explain to them what each question means in a simpler form.
7. Decorate. Have your child decorate their shield, adding the final touch to the finished activity.
8. Hang up for everyone to enjoy, reflecting on the lesson throughout the week.
