Activity:  Valentine's Day Card-Sign Language {Lesson by Annie}

Description:  Your child create a Valentine's Day card for a "special someone," while learning "I Love You" in sign language.

Materials:
Construction Paper {Colors of your choice~preferably Valentine's Day Colors}
Markers/Crayons

Glue
       Scissors
       Stapler
       Sharpe or pen

       Glitter {Optional}

Directions:

1. Fold vertically two pieces of construction paper in half.
2. On one side of the paper, with folded crease on the inside, draw a half of a heart, using entire folded piece.
3. Adult or child, cut out the half heart. Then open the two pieces of folded heart to enjoy a new "big" heart. You should have two hearts.
4. With a new piece of construction paper, place your child's hand flat on the surface and trace your child's hand.
5. Cut out your child's hand, and put aside.
6. On one of the hearts, spread glue on the entire heart. Have your child use their fingers to disperse  glue evenly.
7. Lightly sprinkle glitter all over the glue, covering entire heart.
8. Shake heart, to release all extra glitter. Set aside to dry.
9. With other heart, have you child decorate with markers/crayons. After artwork, together write a Valentine's message to that "special someone." **My child is two, so I asked him, "What do you want tell Gramie for Valentine's Day?" He told me a few words, so I wrote them on the card for him..it was really cute.
10. Once glitter is dry, staple one side of the hearts together {glitter heart as the cover} creating a card.
11. With the child's "cut out hand," fold and glue/staple down the two middle finger, making the expression "I Love You" in sign language {see image below}. Glue/Staple on the front of the glittery card.
12. Sign and date the back of the card, and "Waa Laa!" Your Valentine's Day Card is FINISHED!
13. Have your child give their card to that "special someone" while talking about all they did and learned!

Read Aloud:

I'm a Little Heart
Tune: "I'm a Little Tea Pot"

I'm a little heart as you can see.
I'm rounded at the top like a lazy three.
Then on my bottom, I'm a great big "V".
I'm a heart. Will you love me?
