Kid’s Corner

{Week 1: Self Esteem}

Activity: Spring Flower

Theme: Easter     Color: Gray

Daily Opener:  
1.             Prayer {Say a prayer with your child}
2.            Calendar {Click on the link to learn how to use the calendar}.
3.      ABC / 123 Song {Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}. 

Description:  Your child will learn special qualities that they poses by creating their very own Springtime flower.

Materials:
  • Construction Paper
  • Sharpe
  • Scissors
  • Glue



Directions:
1.              Have your child pick out his/her favorite color of construction paper.
2.             Cut out 12 or more large flower petals, big enough to write a phrase on each one. Two pieces of paper will need to be used.
3.       Using brown construction paper, cut out two medium-size circles, this will be the center of the flower.
4.            Glue one of the circles in the center of a white piece of paper.
5.             With child, glue petals around the brown circle creating your child’s personal Springtime Flower, then glue the remaining brown circle over the first brown circle.
6.            Write your child’s name in the center of your brown circle. On each petal, write a special quality about your child {I have green eyes or I am a happy child}.
7.             Read to your child all their finished work, and hang up somewhere for them to enjoy and show their loved ones!


Learning Opportunity: 
1.             Your child will learn several special qualities that they instill.
2.            Your child will learn how to create a beautiful Springtime Flower.
3.            Your child will gain self-esteem by completing this activity.

Gluing on petals

Finished gluing them all on

Glued second brown circle over first one, let the writing begin

*Stallone Tested and Approved:  Talking about your child’s qualities is such a beauty in building their self-esteem. This activity did just that! It was a lot of creating a flower and labeling each petal with an important characteristic! Stallone loved it, hope your child does too!
