Kid’s Corner

{Week 1: Language}

Activity: EASTER Egg Hunt
Lesson by Annie

Theme: Rainy Days    Color: Gray

Daily Opener:  
1.             Prayer {Say a prayer with your child}
2.            Calendar {Click on the link to learn how to use the calendar}.
3.      ABC / 123 Song {Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}. 

Description:  Your child will learn how to match up letters to their correct Upper-case and Lower-case letters while spelling the word EASTER.

Materials:
  •  Plastic Easter Eggs {Dollar Tree Store}
  • Sharpe
  • White Computer paper
  • String


 Directions:
1.              Using 6 plastic eggs, write the word EASTER, one letter per egg. Write an upper-case letter on the top half of the egg and the lower-case letter on the bottom part.
2.             Write the word EASTER at the top of your white paper in upper-case and lower-case letters.
3.             Take apart all the eggs, separate the upper-case letters and lower-case letters into small piles.
4.            Together, have your child pick an upper-case letter then have them find its matching lower-case letter.
5.             Explain to child, the difference of an upper-case and lower-case letter. Upper-case letters are used in the beginning of a sentence or if the word is a proper noun. Lower-case words are used all other times. Lower-case words are more common.
6.             Click the egg together once the letters are together, and place it under the proper letter on the paper.
7.             Various games can be played, repeat step 4 until all eggs are back together.
8.       String eggs together with yarn, and hang up for your child to enjoy!

Learning Opportunity: 
1.             Your child will learn how to spell the word EASTER.
2.            Your child will learn the difference between upper and lower-case letters.
3.            Your child will gain confidence while learning the upper and lower-case letters of EASTER.

Materials needed, I bought a 12 pack of plastic eggs at the Dollar Tree!

*Stallone Tested and Approved:  This lesson has to be one of my top five’s! Stallone LOVED it, I did not once have to ask him to stay focused. Bravo! Once going through our letters, we ended the lesson matching all the colors together. It was a great practice for him to say the color egg I had held up and then for him to find its matching color! At the end, I filled a few eggs with his favorite treat and has him find it. Fun! Fun! Fun lesson!
