Kid’s Corner

{Week 5: Math}

Theme: Thanksgiving           Color of the Month: Brown

Daily Opener:  

1.  Prayer {Say a prayer with your child}
2.  Calendar {Click on the link to learn how to use the calendar}.
3.   ABC / 123 Song {Sing the ABC’s with your child & sing numbers 1-10 with your child}.

Title: -Hershey Fall Kisses Fun! {Lesson created by Annie}

Description:  Children will learn various numbers and their sequence using delicious Hershey Kisses.


Materials:
        
A bag of assorted Fall Hershey's Kisses.
Index Cards 
Marker (preferably brown)


Directions:


1. Using the index cards and marker, write the numbers 1-10 on the cards (one number per card). 
Note: You can go higher then 10, depending on your child's knowledge.
2. Lay all cards on the table in order, with the child count out ten kisses.
3. Place a chocolate next to the number after saying each number.
4. Repeat Step 2.
5. Clear away chocolates, start over placing the right amount of chocolates for each number (Example: the #4 card will have four chocolates next to it, and so on).
6. Give a child a certain amount of chocolates. have them count them, then pick the right "numbered card" for the amount of chocolate's shown. 
7. Reward the child with at least one yummy Hershey Kiss!!!

Learning Opportunity: Math

1. Addition and Subtraction can be introduced using the cards and chocolates.
